I have taught a lot of workshops, in cyanotype, origami, felting.... What I've found is that the best results - the most enjoyable, productive workshops with long-term influence - come from giving as much practical experience as possible.
I teach through practice. Through making cyanotypes, so you can see how some things work and others might not. I encourage experimentation, and there is always something that happens in a workshop that I've never seen before.
The workshops are a very active learning process; a place for free thought, questions, tests, and a great deal of fun!
You will learn as much as possible! In simple terms, this usually includes:
You will also learn the answer to any question you have, as long as I am capable of answering it!
I believe it is important to try as much as possible during a workshop. Whatever you make can go home with you. Usually, participants make 10-15 images each during the practice session.
You may make paper to take home and use later, a series of images on paper prepared (by Alun) in advance of the workshop, a work on fabric (usually a tote bag, or a t-shirt).
You will also take home a full information sheet to remind you of everything you learnt during the workshop!
