The inspiration was the massive public sculpture 'She Changes' by Janet Echelman, located in Matosinhos. It includes motifs representing sea, sky, waves, sand, mist and the moon. The hitomezashi patterns within the circles relate to good fortune and life beside the sea, such as fish scales and patterns used on traditional fishermans clothes.

Completely hand-stitched on selvedge denim using vintage embroidery silks, cotton threads, cotton batting and linen border.
